Restaurant review: Limoncello at Robertson Quay Singapore

After spending years away in sushi land, followed by macaron land, I'm finally back to the little red dot on the equator where I call home. Eager to rediscover Singapore, I tasked myself with the mission to find the coolest restaurants on this sunny island. Join me on my food quest if you are a closet foodie at heart like me!
I recently discovered a newly established TopTable-like website, Chope.com.sg, which has not only a selective listing of the top dining spots in Singapore, but also an online reservation system linked to these restaurants!! I had a huge craving for Italian food and decided to check out Limoncello on Chope's list. A gourmet expert girl friend of mine was telling me how hard it would be to get a table at Limoncello, especially for a Friday night. Undaunted and thanks to Chope, I managed to get an instant table booking confirmation all in a few clicks at 3am on a Thursday morning!
Anyway, here's my review of Limoncello, named after the refreshing lemon liqueur mainly produced in Southern Italy. Before going, I've already heard rave reviews of this place and the fact that it was on Chope's highly selective list made me all the more excited. For a start, the restaurant is located in Robertson Quay, where chic restaurants and bars sit side by side along the Singapore river. Upon reaching Limoncello, I was greeted by a half-moon wooden patio expanse, which further accentuated the romantic ambience of its alfresco dining area.

With my lovely gal pal, we ordered:
Ravioli Della Casa  at S$18.50 - Homemade ravioli stuffed with mascarpone cheese and porcini mushroom in light Parmesan sauce &
Carpaccio di Manzo rucola e Parmigiano at S$16.50- Thin sliced raw beef tenderloin with lemon and olive served with rocket and parmesan.
Antipasto Limoncello good for 2 pax at S$39.00 - 300 gram Burrata cheese served with parma ham,grill vegetables and cherry tomato
I fell head over heels with Italy, when I visited Rome and Sicily early this year. Memories of the melodic Italian language, incredibly friendly Italians, impressive Roman architecture, picturesque Sicilian landscape and delicious Italian food are still oh so fresh in my head! You can imagine how happy I was to get to relive part of those beautiful Italian moments thanks to Chope. Not to mention that the above dishes I had were pure "foodgasm"!

Dye your hair on a shoestring budget!

Life these days, as a poor MBA student, isn't always beautiful but thanks to the new constraints, I unearthed many great deals and treasures that I failed to notice when I had a comfy job and income! I had been thinking of changing my hair color but I didn't want to spend a bomb at the hair salon, especially since the same money could be used for a nice trip to Bali, Hong Kong or other amazing travel destinations. In the end, I decided to try one of the D.I.Y hair dyes and I absolutely loved the results!

Here's a product review of the D.I.Y hair dye brand I used and photos of the process and outcome. ;)

I hope you liked my first product review. ;) Stay tuned for more!

Indoor skydiving @ iFly Singapore!

There is another sky,
Ever serene and fair,
And there is another sunshine,
Though it be darkness there;
Never mind faded forests, Austin,
Never mind silent fields -
Here is a little forest,
Whose leaf is ever green;
Here is a brighter garden,
Where not a frost has been;
In its unfading flowers
I hear the bright bee hum:
Prithee, my brother,
Into my garden come!
-Emily Dickinson
My maiden indoor skydive at iFly Singapore!
Feel the adrenaline rush of being in the world's first largest themed wind tunnel for indoor skydiving.
Glide in mid-air like a bird. ;)
Cheer for other fellow indoor skydivers!

Enjoy a cocktail, beautiful sunset and great company by the beach after.
It's almost weekend, my friends!
Hope you had a great week so far. Here's to a lovely weekend ahead! xoxo

Mini escapade to Loire Valley

The moment exams ended, I packed my trusty red Longchamp and headed to one of the most charming vacation spot in France, the Loire Valley. I had only less than a day to soak in all the scenic beauty and splendor of the region's magnificent chateaus but it was already more enough to bring the much needed lightness and whiffs of fresh air to my heavy heart. I hope these shots and the video will add a touch of French countryside magic to your day!
The picturesque Loire River...
Wished I could laze on a beach chair here, with a pen to jot down the poetic charm of this place.
Steal into bustling center of Orleans and its seemingly endless street of restaurants unnoticed.
Rest in awe with the majestic Chateau de Chambord and its distinct French Renaissance architecture.
Before we part ways again, here's a mini video with snippets of Loire Valley for you. xoxo
À bientôt, my friends.
